An easy Easter Hike

Start at 6:30am was a bit early for me because I didn't sleep well last night and had a headacke. But as soon as we left Sydney everything was gone and I felt very energized. The beginning was almost to easy, just following a firetrail for some couple of km before decending 400m to the Colo River. And finishing with crossing the river to get to our camp site on a beautifull sand bank.
Ben was very excited, because he brought his new bought, expensive tent and tried it the first time. To set up his tent was a little confusing because he didn't read the manual and nobody knew exactly how it should look like. But when everything was done we went swimming, playing in the quicksand and having a good time. We only came back to the camp for a game of chess, while we started a bonefire, prepared dinner and ate. Somewhen during the game we saw bats and an eel hunting for their dinner in the dawn and were wondering why there were no mosquitos, spiders, or any other wildlife. The game finally finished with a draw because first I made a mistake and he got his queen back, but then Ben wasn't cautious enough at his last few moves. Somewhen we have to repeat it. For the night Ben and Aharon decided to sleep inside the tents, but I slept outside right next to the warm and very comfortable fire.

Our planned early start this morning was an absolute chaos! We woke up at 9am and instantaneous decided to take it easy. So we had breakfast and packed our rucksacks for the ascend and finally around 10:30 we made our way back up.
It wasn't as bad as we thought it would be, it just took us a long time to climb the 400m we were almost flying down yesterday.
After we arrived back in civilisation we went to one of australias oldest pubs - the MacQuarie Arms Hotel; Established 1815 - and I had to discover that my old friends, the leeches got me again. I don't know why, but it seems they like me in particular. They take none of my friends blood. Only mine.
