For the start we put everybody on the skis and went practicing on a small hill: balancing, breaking, standing up and falling down. Even the experienced skiers fell down several times till they got their balance.
But once everybody got some confidence in standing on the skis we set of for the 5 / 10 Km Nordic-Trails just for everybody to practice more falling down!
Every beautiful day always starts early in the morning! After a short breakfast we set off for a Cross-Country-Tour to Porcupine Rocks.
We split up into in three different groups, where my group fist had to find the path and therefore went through nice, deep snow while heavy wind was blowing snail into our faces and it felt like needles piercing us. But as soon as we found the track the snail turned into fog and it was a lot more comfortable, especially since we met the group who set of first and joined them in having a break.
aWhen we continued the track soon we turned back because of the bad visibility, not that it is good in the middle of a cloud anyways. Back on the Nordic-Trails we did some part of yesterday’s track and all downhill passages which caused problems turned out to be very easy today after a bit more training and a good night of sleep. And for the last two km nobody fell down.
After we returned to the cars the others told us that the visibility on Porcupine Rocks was very bad, but instead on the trails we had some nice sunshine.
And in the evening around 11 pm we arrived back in Sydney and fell very tired, but happy into our beds.
