Hiking in Wollemi NP

Getting ready for the walk was very easy, I prepared everything yesterday and just had to dress and meet Tiffany to be picked up. After everybody was there we had breakfast at a nice coffee shop close to the National Park.
Finally on the track (12pm by now) we started walking and got into a snowstorm! Not real snow, but hail. It is also frozen water! The hail stones were about 2.5 cm big and painfull. Geting down to the river wasn't hard, just the fact that we took a shortcut/detour made it a bit more interesting.
At the river we got ready for swimming and a short time later it started heavily raining! I probably swallowed more water, than I got air into my lungs. We were a bit concerned about the waterlevel, but the rain lasted only a short time. So we kept on swimming and got to a place with an oppertunity to dive, about 5 meters. We had lots of fun. The way back wasn't hard, but cold! We all have been in the water for quiet a long time and felt very cold with some people complaining frequently about it.
After changing cloth again we made our way back up and I soon realized that my boots won't stay dry. After the shower paddles turned into tiny lakes as deep as 40cm. And as a special feature leeches turned up from everywhere.
Back at the cars we checked the information signboards and read that they don't recommend enter canyons if it is raining because of possible flash floods. It's always good to read those signs AFTER the trip.
Finally at the restaurant we all enjoyed nice pizzas (noodles for Tiffany) and were talking for ages about the nice day!

When I got up my bed was full of blood. It looked like a little massacre took place during the night. After the shock was over I soon realized that the cause must have been a leech. So I went showering and looked for it, but couldn't find it. Only the wound at my right leg where it sucked my blood.
Back in my room I saw it laying at the floor, this disgusting but fascinating not moving something, filled with my precious blood.
